Hi, I’m Dave Purcell, a Milwaukee-based singer-songwriter and drummer.
I write songs that straddle the edges of Americana and indie rock, inspired by artists who blend roots music and rock & roll with intention: R.E.M., Los Lobos, Wilco, Calexico, Alejandro Escovedo, Kathleen Edwards, and Elvis Costello.
Over the years, I’ve led bands including Pike 27 and Ghost Man on Second in Cincinnati, and most recently Radio Free ABQ in Albuquerque. I relocated to Milwaukee in late 2024 and will soon begin playing and recording under my own name, with friends and fellow travelers joining in as The Contradictions.
